Bible Passages to Help You Cope With the Loss of a Loved Pet

Do you know the hardest part of being committed in a relationship with your pet? The day they die.

The loss of a pet is often described as being worse than the loss of a human loved one. And, it does make sense to me. You’ve lost the one you’ve been sharing your life and happiness with. You are going to be sad and broken for a very long time; the grief won’t fade away so easily. However, if you are a Christian, you can seek refuge in the following Biblical scriptures.

Bible Verses to Help You Overcome the Loss of a Loved Pet

Bible Verses to Help You Overcome the Loss of a Loved Pet

– From Romans 8: 18

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

– From Revelation 21:4

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[a] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

– From Psalm 38: 6-22

“I am bowed down and brought very low; all day long I go about mourning. My back is filled with searing pain; there is no health in my body. I am feeble and utterly crushed; I groan in anguish of heart. All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you. My heart pounds, my strength fails me; the light has gone from my eyes. My friends and companions avoid me because of my wounds; my neighbors stay far away. Those who want to kill me set their traps, those who would harm me talk of my ruin; all day long they scheme and lie. I am like the deaf, who cannot hear, like the mute, who cannot speak; I have become like one who does not hear, whose mouth can offer no reply. Lord, I wait for you; you will answer, Lord my God. For I said, “Do not let them gloat or exalt themselves over me when my feet slip.” For I am about to fall, my pain is ever with me. I confess my iniquity; I am troubled by my sin. Many have become my enemies without cause[a]; those who hate me without reason are numerous. Those who repay my good with evil lodge accusations against me, though I seek only to do what is good. Lord, do not forsake me; do not be far from me, my God. Come quickly to help me, my Lord and my Savior.”

– From Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.”

– From Ecclesiastes 3:19-20

“Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath[a]; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless. All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return.”

– From Hosea 2:18

“In that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I will abolish from the land, so that all may lie down in safety.”

– From Psalms 50: 10

“For every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.”
